Kur Staff NGO sends letter to Ombudswoman
The Kur Staff NGO has sent a letter to the Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova in connection with the state of health of Ilham Amiraslanov – a human rights defender confined in a detention place in Baku.
The letter stated that Ilham Amiraslanov received injuries on June 9 injured when he was arrested by police, and subjected to physical violence. But so far his medical examination has not been carried out.
Amiraslanov has his eardrum and ribs damaged. According to the lawyer Samir Isayev, on the man’s back there are traces of blows.
Kur Staff turned into the main medical management of the Prison Service and the confinement facility, requesting the examination. Amiraslanov also sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General, but no results have been achieved.
On June 25 Amiraslanov was visited by a doctor, who said that he needs serious regular treatment. But the doctor himself did not do anything.
The letter asked the Ombudswoman to assist Amiraslanov’s medical examination.
Amiraslanov protected the rights of citizens affected by flooding in May 2010. On July 4 this year, he participated in a meeting with the Ministry of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov, who arrived in the flood zone. Four days after the meeting Amiraslanov was arrested and charged with possession of weapons. -05D04-
