Mass layoffs are taking place on the Public Television of Azerbaijan. In particular, On June 1 were dismissed the director of the Information Department Elgun Ibrahimov, correspondent in Turkey Rahima Mirzoyeva and Dilgam Mirzoyev, correspondent for Central Asia Fizuli Mejidli and Reyhan Mejidli, senior editor Mais Aghayev, senior editor Esmira Gasimova, correspondent Dilaver Seyidov, the announcer of the programs in the Russian language Tamilla Shirinova, political commentator Bakhtiyar Salimov, and a correspondent Rauf Nabiyev, according to the report on social networks on behalf of journalists who disagree with the personnel policy at the ITV. The authors claim that the decision on layoffs was taken in the absence of the country's General Director ITV Jamil Guliyev.
Illegality of some layoffs is noted, as department heads may fired only by the Council of ITV, and not CEO. The upcoming dismissal of 7-8 employees this week is reported. Turan failed to get the comments in the ITV. In recent months, a wave of layoffs and salary cuts affected all pro-government media and TV channels. In addition, several websites and publications financed by oligarchs, high-ranking state officials and others stopped activity. -06В-
