Trial in the case of former chief of the National Security Ministry of Nakhchivan
Trial in the case of the former Minister of National Security of the Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan Veli Aleskerov will begin in Nakhchivan on June 8 in the Military Court of Nakhchivan, according to the lawyer of the former minister Vugar Hasan. The trial will be chaired by the head of the court is the Military Court of Nakhchivan Gasim Aliyev. For 15 year Aleskerov headed the National Security Ministry of Nakhchivan. He was surprisingly fired in December 2015. Shortly after that a lawsuit was filed against him on charges of misappropriation, misuse and abuse of power. For some period Aleskerov was kept under arrest, and then was released under house arrest, but was arrested again after he told the press about his innocence and torture during his arrest. Last week, lawyers spoke about the nomination of the new charges against Aleskerov - illegal wiretapping, without specifying details. The lawyer also said that the defense had not received a copy of the materials of charges and cannot prepare an application by the beginning of the trial.
