Media Review for September 12
The situation in Azerbaijan in connection with the pandemic, the reasons for the refusal to install pos-terminals at facilities, and a decrease in VAT revenues are topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan continues to write about the fight against the pandemic, recalling that around the world 28 million people are infected with this virus, of which more than 900 thousand people have died. WHO is sounding the alarm for a second wave of the pandemic in the fall months.
In a number of countries - Georgia, Turkey, and European countries, the number of infected has increased. Therefore, you cannot relax, you must continue to follow the established rules.
The website Mətbuat.az discusses with experts the reasons for refusal of owners of shops and other objects from post-terminals. The experts point out that their installation is mandatory. However, some shops and catering facilities do not do this, therefore non-cash payments are impossible. In addition, by not installing post-terminals, the owners thus avoid paying taxes. By the way, there are fines for this - 1,000 manats for failure to install for the first time. The second time the fine will be 3,000 manats, and the third time - 6,000 manats.
The website Banker.az writes that August was the worst month for the state budget, VAT receipts decreased. For 8 months of this year, receipts from customs amounted to 2 billion 654.3 million manats. Compared to last year, this is 16% less.
Revenues from VAT, which accounts for 67% of revenue, amounted to 192.14 million manat, which is 20% less than in the previous month. The second role in budget revenues is played by customs duties, which amounted to only 79.12 million manat, which is 6% less than in the previous month.
Revenues from excise taxes in August amounted to 11.42 million manats (a decrease of 3%) and 2.6 million manats from road tax (decrease by 9%).
