Mehman Huseynov is not allowed to meet with lawyers
Baku/26.01.19/Turan: Blogger Mehman Huseynov, who is kept in the jail N1, is not allowed to meet with his lawyer, said his brother, blogger, director of the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety (IRFS) Emin Huseynov.
The presence of a lawyer requires a procedure. So, the investigator must announce the termination of the criminal case in the presence of a lawyer.
However, the administration of the jail told his lawyer who had come to meet with the blogger that Mehman Huseynov was in the "new status" and the lawyer must submit a new contract and permission from the Prison Service.
The blogger"s brother regarded it as arbitrariness and continued pressure on Mehman.
Two days ago, the prosecutor's office announced the termination of a criminal charge against Mehman Huseymov launched for allegedly attacking a guard on December 26 in jail N14, where a blogger is serving a sentence on a false accusation of slandering the police. -06D-
