MIA: cause of the explosion in Bilajari - gas leak (UPDATED)

The number of victims of the October 8 explosion in a market in Bilajari has reached two people. Recall that one person died at the scene.

The second one died a few hours later in the hospital, the Ministry of Health hotline told Turan.

In turn, the doctor in charge of the burn unit of the city hospital N 5 Iskender Iskenderov told Turan that they received 6 victims placed in intensive care with burns of 2-3 degrees. There is no threat to their lives.

However, according to the Interior Ministry, the explosion occurred around 18.00 as a result of a gas leak in the cold storage of the store Army, which is on the 1^st floor of a 16-storey residential building.

The room was attached to the building.

As a result of the explosion, a resident of the Guba district Ehtiram Amrahov died on the spot, remaining under the rubble. Eight people were injured, including two women, and were hospitalized.

The explosion hit the concrete floor, damaged three cars and smashed the windows of apartments from 2 to 9 floors of the residential building. -16 / 03B-

The Emergency Situations Ministry (MES) confirmed the death of one person in an explosion in Bilajari, Baku.

Another five victims were transferred by MES rescue brigades to ambulances, the official report by the Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry says.

According to the same source, the explosion occurred "in the illegal building used as a warehouse adjacent to a high-rise building."

Currently ongoing are measures to eliminate the consequences of the accident. The ministry said it would provide additional information.

Several people were injured in an explosion at the store «Army»  on the first floor of a building near the Bilajari International Bus Station. The explosion occurred at approximately 17:30,  according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES.) As a result, five people were hospitalized. One man remained under the rubble. At the moment rescuers continue rescue operation.

Explosion caused  damage to the cars in  the store, and  smashed glass in the building housing a shop. At the site of the explosion  there is a deep crater.

Nothing is reported about the causes of the explosion. However, the nature of the destruction suggests that perhaps it is a terrorist attack. However, there is no  official data  on the occasion.—03B06--
