MNS withdraws lawyer"s records after meeting with Parviz Hashimli
Baku/03.10.13/Turan : October 2, prison staff of MNS demanded the lawyer Elchin Sadygov give his record after a meeting with his client , a journalist Parviz Hashimli .
"I was told that they must show the record to their superiors. I refused . However, I was not allowed , and they forcibly took away my notes and looked through them. I was told that this was an instruction from the chiefs," said the lawyer to the agency Turan.
Sadyqov regarded it as a violation of the law on the legal profession and appealed to the Attorney General and the Bar Association .
The lawyer also told he filed an application for replacement of Hashimli's arrest by house arrest.
* Parviz Hashimli, an employee of the newspaper Bizim Yol and the director of the Center of Protection of Civil and Political Rights , a member of the Popular Front , was arrested Sept. 17 on charges of smuggling and illegal possession of weapons.
He believes the charges are trumped up and politically motivated.
The arrest of the journalist was condemned by many local and international human rights organizations. -16D06-
