MOE strengthens Bailov landslide zone
MOE began work on stabilization and addressing sustainability in the village Bailov that is in the southwestern part of Baku.
As the press service of the Emergencies Ministry said, a group of local professionals and experts of the Japanese company Shineyi Caisha Corporation and Dutch Vitteven Bos has been created.
Local and foreign experts conducted geodesy work in the territory of 800 hectares, drilled 101 geological and hydrological wells and established a monitoring network.
They began implementing measures at three stages. In particular, in the landslide zone 4 terraces with a height of five meters have been created. With this end in view, 155 thousand cubic meters of earth have been delivered.
In order to reduce the level of groundwater a drainage well was drilled. Due to this, in the last 8 months the groundwater level decreased by 95 cm.
To increase the resistance factor, a wall of strength, 112 m long, was built in T. Baghirov Street.
These measures will ensure stability in the Bailov landslide area, the report said.
Note that landslides occur in this area about once every 10 years, which creates serious problems and threatens the security of thousands of homes. -16D06-
