NCDF Coordination Center’s Meeting
Yesterday was a regular meeting of the Coordinating Center of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF). During the meeting they discussed the socio-political situation in the country, the effects of socio-economic crisis, the deterioration of the people’s economic situation, and the recent attacks on freedom of expression, NCDF reported.
The participants strongly condemned the government's decision on the sharp increase in tariffs for gas, electricity and water, which further worsened the already difficult social situation of the population.
It was explained with the incompetence of the government, which is leading the country to economic collapse. A short time ago, the authorities stated unparalleled pace of development of Azerbaijan, and now they promise to overcome the financial crisis only in 2025. At the same time, the government states that credits of AZN 27 billion are needed to overcome the crisis. And this is said by a government that squandered 150 billion dollars received from oil revenues.
The situation is exacerbated by the criminalization of power, which increasingly sinks into corruption.
The meeting also condemned the blocking of the websites Radio Azadliq and Voice of America, the suspension of printing of the newspaper Azadlig, and the 10-year prison sentence on the activist Bayram Mammadov for a graffiti inscripted on the monument to Heydar Aliyev.
The meeting also criticized the judges of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, which conduct the so-called Nardaran case, for their lack of objectivity and refusal to invite the key witnesses, including senior officials, to the court. -06D-
