Baku / 03.07.18 / Turan: The reason for again stopping the supply of electricity to Baku and a number of districts in the evening of July 3 was the accident at Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant. During the repair work in the test mode, the 6th power unit was launched, which failed the night before. This time, the 7th unit did not work and broke down, and this caused the power outage at about 19.00. After that, it was decided to stop Blocks 6, 7 and 8, a local source told Turan. According to the same source, obsolete equipment did not withstand the load due to increased electricity consumption.
The termination of electricity supply to Baku caused the stop of trains in the Baku Subway, which were stuck in tunnels. Only by 21.00 the passengers were evacuated from subway stations. It will work only tomorrow.
Electricity supply to Baku started in stages only from 20.00 and was restored at 22.30.
At the Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant, Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are currently operating.
To maintain their work, energy is accidentally imported from Russia. -06D--
