NIDA activist appealed for clemency

A member of the movement NIDA, as well as the party Civil Solidarity, blogger Omar Mammadov, sentenced to 5 years in prison, appealed to Ilham Aliyev for pardon.

According to the report of the Prison Service, in his address Mammadov says that he would like to complete his studies at the university and become a worthy citizen. "In this regard, I beg you to pardon me."

He also appealed to the leadership of the party Civil Solidarity with a request to exclude him from the organization.

Mammadov’s family members have not confirmed the presence of such an address.

Recall that Omar Mammadov was arrested Jan. 23, 2014, and he was seized 6 grams of heroin. On July 4, he was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.

However, the real reason for his arrest was the creation of a satirical Facebook page Favorites with AZTV, in which he ridiculed and criticized the government, and put cartoons.

In July, a clemency petition was filed by a member of NIDA Shahin Novruzlu, and in September, six other convicted activists of NIDA addressed to the Head of State and called for their release. -16D-
