Night Passed Quietly in Nardaran
Last night in the village of Nardaran (30 km from Baku) was relatively calm. There were no new excesses after yesterday's incident, which killed six people.
Groups of young people continued to patrol the streets and squares of the village. At the entrance to the village barricades of stones were set up.
Yesterday the police special forces conducted an operation in the village, arresting the leaders of the movement Muslim Unity - Thale Bagirzade and others. In the course of the operation firearms were used. Four young Nardaranis and two policemen were killed.
In this situation, there are serious questions to the authorities, first of all, to the leadership of the Interior Ministry.
Why was it necessary to do so ostentatiously rough operation during the prayer and to capture people, using weapons in crowded places, where there were many women and children?
The leaders of the Muslim Unity have an office in Baku and regularly visit it. They could be arrested there, or on the way. Why was it necessary to organize a pogrom in the center of Nardaran and thus to configure the local population against the authorities?
The statements of the authorities on the preparation of armed seizure of power by Bagirzade and his supporters look ridiculous and unconvincing. Rather, it is an attempt to justify the large number of victims and to withdraw the perpetrators from the liability. -02B-
