Number of Those Arrested in Nardaran Reached 32
In the course of a special operation conducted in Nardaran November 26, five people were killed and in relation to 32 people arrest was accepted as a measure of restraint. On Wednesday the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov said this in an interview with the state television AzTV.
According to him, during the raid they seized six automatic machine guns, pistols and other ammunition.
The minister called on the residents of Nardaran to voluntarily surrender their weapons available in the village to the Interior Ministry.
Usubov complained that since the beginning of the operation no one has voluntarily surrendered weapons. The minister has promised that those who voluntarily surrender weapons will be exempt from criminal liability.
However, he noted that the special operation in Nardaran continues.
In support of the special operation in Nardaran the Minister also noted that confrontation with the police happened in this settlement before, too. Moreover, in 2005, two police officers were killed. Usubov counted 23 cases of Nardaranis' clashes with the police.
He also noted that the movement Muslim Unity, whose leader Taleh Bagirzadeh was arrested on November 26, along with his supporters, was aimed at "coming to power by unconstitutional means, and management of the country under the Sharia law."
Usubov noted that with the exception of Nardaran, on the rest of the territory of Azerbaijan the situation is stable. -06D--
