Offshore Platform Damaged by Earthquake
On November 4 at 23:00 in the Caspian Sea an earthquake occurred, causing damage to the deep-sea platform number 10 on the field Guneshli. According to SOCAR, several metal joints to the upper coating of the platform were cut off.
In order to ensure the safety of the staff on the platform, the people were evacuated. Check of the platform base did not reveal any damage. Repair and replacement of the damaged parts started. The production process has not been stopped.
Recall that on 4 December 2015 in this same platform as a result of a storm there was a destruction of metal pipes and gas emissions, and the emission of sparks caused a large fire and 64 people on the platform were trapped. The people’s attempt to leave the platform on lifeboats ended tragically. 34 people fell into the water and it was impossible to save them all in stormy weather. Later the bodies of 17 oilmen were found, and 15 others are still considered lost. -05D-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.
