On the eve of opposition rally, the police detain PPFA activists
Baku/30.09.22/Turan: On the eve of today's protest action of the Party of People's front of azerrbaijan (PPFA), police officers began detaining activists in the morning.
In particular, the deputy chairman of the PPFA Seymour Khazi, members of the Presidium and other governing bodies of the Party were detained: Rovshan Safarli, Bakhtiar Imanov, Faig Nagiyev and Mushfig Imamguliyev.
The Interior Ministry refrained from commenting as noting that the information will be provided later.
Recall that the action is scheduled for 16:00 in front of the Parliament building in protest against the draft new law on political parties. Tofig Yagublu, a member of the National Council and the Musavat Party, has already been detained this morning. The Interior Ministry explained the detention by conducting an investigation due to Yagublu's calls for an "uncoordinated action". Reporter Anar Abdullah was also detained today but later released. -06B-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
