On the eve of the 90th anniversary Colonel General T.Agaguseynov awarded "Azerbaijan Bayragy"
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev awarded Tofig Agaguseynov "Azerbaijan Bayragy" ("Flag of Azerbaijan"). He was awarded this high honor for his services to the armed forces of the formation and training of military personnel.
Note that Tofig Agaguseynov on February 1 is to celebrate his 90th anniversary, and is the first of Azerbaijanis that was promoted to the rank of Colonel General still in the Soviet Army. His military career began as commander in World War II, to which he went as a volunteer in 1941. After the war Agaguseynov held various command positions in the Soviet Army, including the United Forces of the Warsaw Treaty.
In 1987, on superannuation, Colonel General Agaguseynov was discharged.
Since Azerbaijan gained independence Agaguseynov was called back to military service in the National Army, and from 1997 to 2002 he held the position of Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on military issues. -06D -
