Outbreak of Coronavirus Found in Gobustan Prison
Baku / 29.08.20 / Turan: During a medical examination, two employees of the Gobustan prison were found to have COVID-19, the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers said on Saturday.
After that, the staff of the institution and prisoners who were in contact with them were tested.
Five employees and 19 prisoners tested positive for COVID-19. Their state of health is satisfactory, most of them are asymptomatic, and no complications are observed.
Currently, the Gobustan prison has applied strict epidemiological control, and the necessary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus.
Another source of infection has been identified at the Bayil production site of the AZFEN joint venture. 20 employees of the company tested positive for coronavirus. At present, preventive and anti-epidemiological work is being carried out to stabilize the situation at the enterprise, according to the statement of the Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers.
Gobustan Prison is a restricted-access type of prison. It contains persons sentenced to long terms of imprisonment for grave and especially grave crimes, including those sentenced to life imprisonment. –06D-
