Participants of the war complain that they are not given the status of a veteran
Baku/28.03.22/Turan: On Monday, over 50 participants in the Second Karabakh War held a rally near the Ministry of Defense, demanding that they be given the status of a war veteran.
The participants of the action: Azer Alirzaev, Sanan Shukurbeyli, Aghasef Aliyev and others, who came from different parts of the country, told the Turan correspondent that they fought in Karabakh. Some were wounded and awarded medals, but the Ministry of Defense did not grant them veteran status.
“For two years, we have been going around with our demands, we have applied to the military units in which we served, to the Presidential Administration, to the Milli Majlis, but we receive stereotyped empty answers.
I left my wife and two children at home and went to the front. Everywhere we are told that we are not veterans, because we do not have supporting documents. The Ministry of Defense says that our names are not in the database of combatants," said Agasef Aliyev from Barda.
“The President of Azerbaijan said that all participants in the war would receive what they were entitled to. Why are we so unfair? I appeal to the president - pay attention to us,” Azer Alirzaev said.
According to the protesters, the problems are that complete lists of soldiers and officers were not sent from some military units to the Ministry of Defense, and some military units were liquidated. All this gave rise to problems in compiling the electronic database of the Ministry of Defense.
A representative of the Ministry of Defense came out to the veterans and wrote down the demands of the protesters. He told a Turan correspondent that complaints are considered in the prescribed manner, if a person participated in the war, he will receive the status established by law. -06B-
