PFPA Activist and His Wife Fired for Political Views in Neftchala
Baku / 28.04.17 / Turan: The head of the Neftchala District Organization of the Popular Front Party (PFPA) Aflatun Ahmadli and his wife Ulker Ahmadli have been dismissed from the schools where they were teachers.
Ahmadli considers this decision to be political and related to his opposition activities. In an interview with Turan, he reported that on April 25 he was summoned to the district education department, where he was asked whether he participated in the opposition rally in Baku on April 8. “I said that I did not participate in this rally, but they demanded that I write an explanatory note, and I refused. Then they demanded I should leave PFPA, and I again refused.
After that, I and my wife were dismissed from work under Article 70 of the Labor Code, that is, for violation of the requirements of the employment contract,” Ahmadli said.
He worked as a physics teacher at School No. 1 in the village of Mayak, and his wife taught Russian at School No. 3 in Neftchala.
Ahmadli considers the reason for the dismissal far-fetched, as the true goal is to punish him for political activities.
The directors of these schools refrained from commenting the fact and recommended contacting the district education department. The head of the latter Ajdar Kerimov told Turan the decision to dismiss was taken on the basis of the opinion of the pedagogical council and trade unions. The dismissed couple allegedly violated the labor discipline, which was expressed in violation of the principle of "political loyalty" and "conversations against the authorities." According to Kerimov, teachers "do not have the right to state political views at school." -05B06-
