PFPA activist starts hunger strike in jail
Baku/ 17.08.20/Turan: PFPA member Ismail Hasanov, arrested after the "Karabakh action" on July 14-15, went on a hunger strike.
Hasanov was detained on July 19.
He was charged under theArticle 186.2.1 (destruction or damage to other people's property on a large scale), 233 (taking actions aimed at disrupting public order or participating in them) and 315 (resisting or using violence against a police representative) of the Criminal Code. On July 21, the court chose a preventive measure against him in the form of arrest for a period of 3 months.
Hasanov began a hunger strike on August 16 and officially informed the leadership of the Baku jail, said PPFA.
"The reason for the action is the unjustified involvement in the investigation, arrest and not providing an opportunity for telephone conversations with the family," the PFPA said.
The attempts to get comments in the Prison Service were futile. -21B06-
