Police took control of the center of Baku, pending action
Fountain Square, Nizami (old name - Trading) Street and the surrounding streets of Baku since the morning have been controlled by reinforced police squads. The reason is the expected 15:00 protest of the youth in support of the protests in Ismayilli.
The initiative to hold the protest comes from youth opposition activists, who called for young people to the streets to express solidarity with the requirements of Ismayilli people. Calls for the rally are prevalent in social networks and have been supported by more than 4,500 people.
In turn, the deputy head of the press service of the Interior Ministry Ehsan Zahidov told Turan that any unauthorized action will be stopped. -02B-

On January 7, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree increasing the salaries of employees in several organizations funded by the state budget. According to the decree, the monthly salaries of managerial and other employees in around 20 institutions (including the Presidium, Apparatus, and Ganja Branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and the Heydar Aliyev Center) will increase by an average of 15% starting January 1, 2025.
