Azerbaijan's role in the Islamic world, the state of the media, obstacles caused to the business, as well as the medical care level are the main topics of today's press.
The official newspaper Azerbaijan published an article devoted to the Istanbul summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, speaking about the role of Azerbaijan in the Islamic world.
The newspaper reminds about the events, to which Baku has a direct relationship. In particular, this means the Islamic Games to be held in Baku and the VII Global Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations.
The Azadlig published an interview with the chairman of the Association of Journalists Yeni Nesil (New Generation) Arif Aliyev on the state of the media in Azerbaijan. Arif Aliyev alleges the absence of independent press in the country, and even more television, complaining that the authorities failed to create the conditions for independent media activities. He also considers the right of the press to criticize the behavior of officials and MPs during the April war, and the lack of accurate information about the losses of the Azerbaijani side.
The Novoye Vremya published an article titled Is Baku Ready for New Crisis?, which refers to the legislation hindering the development of entrepreneurship, monopolization, corruption and arbitrariness.
The Bizim Yol criticizes the situation in health care and inadequate prices in comparison with the salaries and pensions of citizens. In Azerbaijan, there is a growing number of people who go for treatment abroad. The expert Natig Jafarli believes it necessary to introduce health insurance. Despite the fact that such a solution is available, there is no mechanism which would run the system. –0--

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
