The development of regions, the increase in the number of suicides and the state of the landslide on the Bayil slope are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan assesses the development of the regions against the backdrop of the January 29 conference chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, who summed up the results of the past 14 years, assessed progress and defined tasks for the forthcoming period.
The website Azadliqinfo.az focuses attention on the increase in the number of suicides last year by 50%. The economist Gubad Ibadoglu notes that 4 people commit suicide every 3 days. 60% of them are under 40 years old. Of every three suicides, one is a woman, and out of every 10, one is a child.
Last year, 495 people committed suicide, while in 2016 there were 327. In January of this year, the number of suicides was 42.
The Bizim Yol newspaper writes about the situation with a landslide on the Bayil slope, where hundreds of houses have come to an emergency condition.
Cracks with a width of one meter and a length of 5-7 meters have been formed in the area. The most dangerous situation is on Janub Darya Street. There is a danger of collapse at any moment.
The environmentalists see the way out of the situation in planting this territory and creating terraces with greenery to prevent the earth from humidifying due to precipitation. -0----
