Prosecutor General’s Office announced the beginning of a criminal case against supporters of Gulen

In the evening of Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office in the evening on August 15 confirmed reports of pro-governmental media on the lawsuits against the "supporters" of the Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen who lives in the United States. " Fethullah Gülenis accused of the organization of the  attempt of  coup  in Turkey. In  order to prevent illegal activities of the supporters of Fethullah Gülen on the territory of Azerbaijan, the  Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the  General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan initiated a lawsuit,"  said the head of the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office Eldar Sultanov.

According to him, the  investigative and operational measures are ongoing  in the case.  Sultanov said nothing  about those brought to justice  in the case and the specific charges against them. Among the active supporters of Gulen media called a youth activist Elgiz Gahramanov who on 12  August was arrested on charges of drug trafficking. A key figure in the "Gülen network" was  called the PFPA leader Ali Kerimli. Kerimli called the accusations against him nonsense, recalling that previously  they connected his name with the Shiite "Movement of Muslim unity" and "Hizbullah", the Sunni "Al Qaeda." Kerimli said that the accusations against the opposition relate to the upcoming rally against the referendum on amendments to the Constitutions. --06D--
