Prosecutor General's Office on new charges against Avaz Zeynally
Baku/22.09.22 /Turan: The Prosecutor General's Office has distributed a report on the progress of the investigation in the case against journalist Avaz Zeynally and lawyer Elchin Sadygov.
There are new defendants in the case. So, the investigation had "solid suspicions" that Avaz Zeynally, the head of the Internet channel “Səda TV” Elnur Shukyurov and his friend Teymur Rahimov conspired to organize the privatization of land for citizen Nazaket Jafarova. It was planned to build a store on this site adjacent to a residential building in the city of Sumgayit.
In order to obtain the appropriate permission from the executive authority, these persons received 11,070 manats.
Besides that, Zeynally and Shukyurov took 7000 manats from Veliyev Telman to obtain a permit for the construction of a store in the village of Sabunchi, the Prosecutor General's office said in a statement.
The investigation also had solid suspicions that Shukyurov managed to obtain an illegal permit for the privatization of a building with an area of 168 sq. m. and a land plot of 0.57 hectares on the balance of the Surakhani association of housing and communal services and earned 50.000 manats for this.
Zeynally and Shukyurov were charged under Article 312-1.1 (Illegal influence on decision of an official (trade in authority) of the Criminal Code.
Rahimov Teymur is wanted.
The investigation is ongoing, additional information will be provided to the public, the Prosecutor General's Office informs. -06B-
