"Protection Line" will hold a protest action demanding the release of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev
Baku/19.12.22/Turan: On December 23, the human rights organization "Defence Line" will hold a protest rally in the Fountain Square in the center of Baku demanding the release of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev and other political prisoners. Rufat Safarov, executive director of the Defense Line, announced this.
According to him, the Azerbaijani authorities continue their repressive policy, which includes arbitrary arrests, inhuman treatment, and torture of people who criticize the government. The year 2021 was characterized by the arrests of party leaders, journalists, and activists.
Safarov said that the action was scheduled for December 23 at 15:00 at the Fountain Square and a corresponding appeal was sent to the Executive Power of Baku. In turn, lawyer Agyl Laij filed a petition today to change the preventive measure against Hajiyev and transfer him under house arrest. ----16B06----
