About a thousand residents of the village Zykh on the outskirts of Baku held a protest on Sunday, demanding the return of their seized lands. As a resident of the village Javad Agabalayev told Turan, it is about 30 hectares of pasture. In this area oligarchs want to start a commercial building.
After residents protested against these plans, workers and equipment were removed from the site. At the same time, a representative of the executive branch of the village said he was not informed of plans to build in the area.
The villagers demand a meeting with the head of the executive branch of the Surakhani district of the capital, in order to clarify the situation.
"Regardless of who is building, it is illegal. These 30 hectares were allocated for pasture to the settlement by the order of President Heydar Aliyev in 1998. There are currently no documents canceling this decision. For this reason, we feel right," said Agabalayev.
According to him, the villagers had talks with those who fenced the area, but they ignored the demands of the residents. They argued that Zych received the status of settlement - therefore, the allocation of land for pasture was illegal.
"To restore fairness, we were forced to resort to action. However, we hope that the chief executive will clarify what is happening," said Agabalayev.
According to him, it is still unknown exactly who wants to start construction - the names of the heads of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and even the First Lady were called. However, the residents believe this information is incorrect.
Note that before this a group of residents of Zykh held a press conference at the International Press Center, which told about the problems of the village.
So far, the Baku authorities have not commented on the situation. -05B04-
