Real TV employees fired for criticizing parliamentary elections?
Baku / 18.02.20 / Turan: Three reporters of Real TV channel - Laman Ashrafgyzy, Afet Telmanguzy and Ilgar Mikayailoglu were fired. The reason is the criticism of violations and falsifications during the February 9 parliamentary elections, this became known today from publications on social networks.
The first two journalists participated in the elections themselves as candidates, while Ilgar Mikayailoglu had a spouse.
Journalists published on Facebook numerous video materials and articles about violations during the election. The channel’s management demanded that they remove critical materials, and after the refusal, dismissed all three, or rather did not extend the contract with them.
“We have a condition: either delete these publications or you will be fired. We refused because we did nothing wrong,” Laman Ashrafgyzy wrote on the social network.
Real TV issued a statement in which it assures that women journalists were suspended temporarily, as they took part in the elections. After the election, they were invited to return to work, there are no barriers to their work on the channel. However, the message does not say anything about the third dismissed - Ilgar Mikayailoglu.
It should be noted that Afet Telmangyzy ran for parliament in the 125th Zangelan-Gubadly district, Laman Ashrafgyzy in the 117th Oguz-Gabala district, and Mikayailo Glu's wife - Zulfiya Bayramova in the 81st Beylagan district. -03B-
