Religious Figure from Georgia Detained
Baku / 12.11.18 / Turan: The head of the High Spiritual Board of the Muslims of Georgia, Mirtaghi Asadov, was detained while crossing the Georgian-Azerbaijani border and brought to Baku on November 7. This was reported to Turan by sources in Georgia.
"He was detained while crossing the border and taken to Baku. His family, located in Azerbaijan, was not informed about this. He has been held without charge and without a lawyer for three days," the source said.
The Religious Board of the Muslims of Georgia also said that on November 9, a representative of the Georgian embassy in Baku visited Asadov, but nothing was reported about the details of this meeting.

Law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan have not commented on the detention of Asadov.
As for the personality of this person, it is known that about two years ago, Mirtaghi Asadov renounced the citizenship of Azerbaijan. At the same time, his family continues to live in Azerbaijan.
