Representatives of Ombudsman Investigate in Jail
Members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) for the prevention of torture in Azerbaijan Ombudsman conducted an investigation in the Baku prison.
As the press service of the Ombudsman's office said, the investigation was carried out in connection with the appeals received by the Commissioner for Human Rights.
NPG members met individually with 15 prisoners.
They complained about the conditions of detention and treatment of the detainees.
However, due to the issues raised by the prisoners they were granted legal aid.
Their complaints to the Ombudsman about biased investigation were sent for investigation to the appropriate authorities.
The jail heads were tasked to improve the conditions of detention.
