Ruhullah Akhundzadeh's Health Worsens
Baku / 08.10.19 / Turan: The head of the Astara district organization of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan, Ruhullah Akhundzadeh, who is serving a prison sentence, has serious health problems. This was reported by his relatives.
"His legs have failed. We demand urgent treatment of Ruhullah from the prison"s management," said a member of the Akhundzadeh family.
He has been in prison for over 8 years. Already after his arrest, in 2013 he underwent heart surgery.
Akhundzadeh was arrested in January 2011. In the same year, the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced him to 11.5 years in prison on charges of trying to change the constitutional order, creating an armed group, illegal possession of weapons, etc.
He denied all the charges. Human rights activists recognize him as a political prisoner. -06D--
