Baku / 02.05.19 / Turan: On Thursday the retreat trial of the Nizami district court in jail, N 15 considered the appeal for parole of Sayid Dadashbeyli recognized by human rights organizations as political prisoner.
The court, citing the opinion of the Public Committee under the Ministry of Justice and the negative description of the administration of the jail, considered the release of Dadashbeyli ahead of time unacceptable.
According to human rights activist Samir Kazimly, the court"s decision stated that Dadashbeyli "does not make his bed" and "is not engaged in work".
Human rights activist Rasul Jafarov stated with regret that the positive expectations for a speedy final resolution of the problem of political prisoners, the pardon order arising after March, are not justified.
"There is no logic. On the one hand, more than 50 political prisoners were released by a pardon order. On the other hand, political prisoners are not released until the end of the sentence, which is not very much time," said Jafarov.
He sees in this the intention of the authorities to use this issue as a subject of political bargaining.
Dadashbeyli and nine other believers were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment in December 2007. They were accused of attempting a coup d'etat and a number of other serious crimes. However, the investigation was carried out by the Ministry of National Security with numerous violations.
All were recognized as political prisoners. Today, Dadashbeyli, Jahangir Karimov and Jeyhun Aliyev remain in prisons.
The 13.5 years term in prison of Dadashbeyli and Karimov will expire in a year and three months.
The term of Aliyev, who suffers from Hepatitis-B, whose term in prison was 14 years, expires in a year and nine months. -21D--

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
