Security of Islamic Games to Be Provided by 13,000 Security Officials
Baku / 22.07.17 / Turan: Approximately 13,000 security officers will be deployed to ensure public order and security of the IV Games of Islamic Solidarity on May 12-22. This was announced on April 21 at a meeting of the organizing committee of the Games.
According to Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, 12,000 employees, including 252 women, will be involved in the police.
Road safety and escort of high-ranking delegations will be provided by 1,200 road police officers using 400 special-purpose vehicles.
Particular attention is also given to the selection of persons driving vehicles involved in the transportation of competitors.
The head of the Special State Protection Service (SSPS), Vagif Akhundov, announced the involvement of 700 military personnel, including 100 women, in measures to protect the event. The focus of SSPS is also on ensuring cyber security of the Games. All those involved in the protection of the Games passed strict scrutiny of law enforcement agencies. “These people passed a special check. Only SSPS checked 1,560 people. With regard to 107 of them, discrediting information was received and they were suspended from the events,” Akhundov said. -06D-
