Separatist sentenced to 16 years in prison
Baku / 14.02.20 / Turan: On February 14, the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced Fakhraddin Abbasov, accused of collaborating with the Armenian special services, to 16 years in prison.
He is found guilty under the Article 281.2 (open calls against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan), 283.1 (actions aimed at inciting ethnic hatred) and 274 (state treason) of the Criminal Code.
The criminal case against Abbasov was launched in July 2018.
On February 28, 2018, he was deported to Azerbaijan from Russia.
Abbasov is known for having left Azerbaijan and while in Russia, opposed the statehood of Azerbaijan. He often traveled to Armenia, where he openly spoke out calling for the partition of Azerbaijan, urging the Talysh to rise to fight for this. —0-
