Separatists offer joint use of Sarsang water reservoir
Yerevan/14.08.13/Turan- ArmInfo: "Deputy Prime Minister" of Karabakh, Arthur Agabekyan declared readiness to begin a dialogue with Azerbaijan in the joint management of water resources. In an interview with radio "Freedom", he said that the talk is about Sarsang water reservoir, and the water of the Terter river.
"The opportunities of Sarsang reservoir are more than we use, and when used properly, dating back to Soviet times, the Armenian side and Azerbaijan will benefit," he said.
"Using water of Sarsang water reservoir for power generation, we choose a schedule that it was in our best interest, and in the case of a dialogue, we will be able to put it at the service of the interests of both sides. Most important point of the watershed is located in the Terter region, in the case of dialogue, we can properly use this station of the watershed supplying water to the Azerbaijani side too," said Agabekyan.
"In the end, it is a neighboring country, today it is enemy, but tomorrow it will be a foe, and we should be able over time to prepare the people for peace," Aghabekyan said, stressing that the Karabakh party is always ready for any cross-border cooperation, which means preservation of the cease-fire and mutual tolerance.
Official Baku has not yet responded to the statement. Baku's position is that until the Karabakh conflict has not been settled, any cooperation with the separatists is not possible. -02D-
