Baku / 07/10/19 / Turan: Abulfaz Bunyadov, a bedridden seriously ill patient, was released today from prison by a court decision. The case was considered in the Nizami district court of Baku.
Lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev petitioned to release Bunyadov on the basis of art. 76.2 of the Criminal Code (release of a person affected by a serious illness that impedes the completion of the punishment).
The state prosecutor did not object and the court released Bunyadov in the courtroom and sent him home, the lawyer said.
Recall that Bunyadov was wounded during a special operation in the village of Nardaran on November 26, 2015 and paralyzed. He was arrested, but after a while he was released under police surveillance. However, on July 11, 2018, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and he was carried on a stretcher from the courtroom to a prison.
A week ago, activists launched an Internet collection of signatures on a petition to the leadership of Azerbaijan with a request to promote the release of Bunyadov. -06D-
