Six witnesses in the case of the former chief of the International Bank do not appear in court
Baku / 19.09.16 / Turan: Today the Baku Serious Crimes Court chaired by Afgan Hajiyev continued the trial of the former Chairman of the Board of OJSC "International Bank of Azerbaijan" (IBA) Jahangir Hajiyev and seven other defendants. The trial decided to forcibly bring six witnesses, which did not give evidence in court. However, it turned out that they cannot come, as they had left the country.
The lawyer Agil Laidjev said the mandatory participation of these witnesses. However, the court presented only the evidence of witnesses at the preliminary trial. Thus, witness Vugar Sadikhov said that being an employee of "Inter Security" company, he signed the documents. However, he did not know that he was signing documents for a loan.
Witness Tarlan Ismayilov said at the inquest that the former top executive MBA Mamed Jahangirov took his identity card and issued on his name a credit of 300,000 manats. Ismayilov said he did not mind as Jangirov was an official in the bank. Senior inspector of the Chamber of Control for the financial markets Ayaz Valiyev said that the loans granted to individuals and people close to Hajiyev were issued in violation of the law.
After the break, it was found out that the lawyers Agil Laidzhev and Azer Tagiyev were absent at the trial. The judge said that he would complain to them in the Bar and rescheduled the hearing for 21 September. -16D-
