SOCAR Clarifies Stance on Illegal Constructions
Several responsible persons of the state oil company announced plans to demolish illegal housing in the territories belonging to the company.
On request from the agency Turan the press service of the State Oil Company said the following quotes:
«SOCAR does not make decisions about the demolition of houses, it is the prerogative of the court. The task of SOCAR is to sue those who illegally built homes in the company’s land. Only in the Binagadi district there are 35,000 buildings that will be demolished, but there is a question as to deprive people of property," said the Deputy Head of the Legal Department of SOCAR Tarlan Tairov.
In turn, the head of the Office of Legal Disputes of SOCAR Jomard Mustafayev confirmed that the court sent appeals to demolish 9,392 homes in Binagadi district.
To date, the court has already ruled on 4,172 homes.
In addition, the court will be directed applications for the demolition of still almost 10,000 homes, he said in an interview with reporters.
According to him, there are already court rulings to demolish two thousand homes in the Sabail district.
In the Sabunchu district about 6,321 houses are to be demolished and there are already decisions to demolish 4,500 of them.
In the Khatai district to be demolished are 179 homes and for 141 of them there is also a court decision.
With regard to the Khazar and Garadag districts of the capital, the court has already ruled on the demolition of about 1,500 homes in their territory.
The head of the SOCAR Legal Department Eldar Orujov said that the legitimacy of some buildings can be recognized. It depends on whether the wells under them will be operated. There are areas, where wells canot be reversed, so construction can be kept there.
He expressed surprise that some residents serve counterclaims against SOCAR, while they should plead with the municipalities that issued illegal building permits. -03B04-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal.
