SOCAR Ready to Close Emergency Hole on Bulla-Deniz

The State Oil Company (SOCAR) has completed their analysis of the equipment on a marine drilling platform on the Bulla-Deniz gas field, where gas spewed and ignited on August 17.

SOCAR’s website reported that the work was carried out with the use of crane ships Shirvan and Z. Tagiyev. To address the consequences of the accident, SOCAR and Ministry of Emergency specialists and experts from the American Boots & Coots International Well Control are involved.

Closure of the burning well will be arranged by the crane ship Gurban Abbasov.

Water is 26.5 meters deep at the Bulla-Deniz field, which is 80 km south of Baku.

The accident resulted in the evacuation of 62 employees from the platform. There were no casualties. -16D06 -
