Soldier's father complains about the non-objective investigation of the death of his son
Baku/27.07.21/Turan: Arif Ismayilov appealed to the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva with a request to facilitate an objective investigation into the circumstances of his son's death during military service. He does not believe the official version of the investigation that his son shot himself from a machine gun.
Arif Ismayilov told Turan, that his son served on the front line in one of the military units in the Sharur region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR).
On May 1 this year, on the 14th month of service, Agyl Ismayilov called home and said that on May 6 he would arrive on vacation. However, on May 3, the family was informed that the soldier was wounded; upon arrival in Nakhchivan, the father was informed of his son's suicide.
“When I examined my son's body in the morgue, I saw that he had been shot in the forehead. The bullet came out from the back of the head 1.5 cm lower. A person cannot shoot himself in the forehead from a machine gun. A machine gun is usually shot in the chin. In addition, when fired from a machine gun, the flame from the duma should burn the face,” Arif Ismayilov said.
According to his father, who is a veteran of the first Karabakh war, his son was killed by a shot from a weapon with a silencer. “My son was killed in a trench in the morning. His colleagues in the position did not hear the shot. Otherwise, they would have come to the rescue and dragged him to a safe place to provide assistance,” said Arif Ismayilov. In his opinion, it was produced from a close distance - 30-50 cm.
He does not agree that the criminal case in the Nakhchivan Military Prosecutor's Office is being conducted under Article 125 (incitement to suicide) of the Criminal Code.
“Despite our written and oral appeals, they are not considered,” Arif Ismayilov said. According to him, the family is not informed about the progress of the investigation and the representatives of the investigation do not answer phone calls. The father filed a complaint with the military prosecutor of Azerbaijan, Khanlar Veliyev, but his statement was sent to the same investigative body.
Arif Ismayilov asks the Ombudsman to provide assistance in accordance with the criminal procedure legislation to pick up the military prosecutor's office from the Nakhichevan and transfer it to the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan for consideration.
“We do not believe that there will be an objective investigation in Nakhchivan. Not a single lawyer dares to go there,” Ismayilov said. Representatives of the NAR military prosecutor's office were not available for comment. —06D-
