Baku/12.08.23 /Turan: The State Security Service of Azerbaijan detained Kamran Zulfugarov (born in 1983), who has been a member of illegal armed groups in Syria since 2013.
According to the State Security Service, Zulfugarov was detained after illegally arriving in Azerbaijan.
He was brought to justice under Articles 12.1 (crime committed outside Azerbaijan), 279.1 (creation of illegal armed formations) and the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The investigation found that Zulfugarov was trained in a special training camp of ISIS in Syria. He participated in the fighting in the Syrian city of Haritan and other places.
During the investigative actions Zulfugarov told about his flight from Syria.
A native of the Salyan region, Zulfugarov left Azerbaijan in 2013 and arrived in Syria, where he took part in armed conflicts. For this reason, back in 2018, by a court decision, he was deprived of Azerbaijani citizenship, the report says. -0-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
