Straight from Hollywood: The World Nomad Games Featuring Eric Roberts

Eric Roberts, the acclaimed Hollywood actor known for his roles in over 700 films and television series, has arrived in Astana at the invitation of the Association of National Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Roberts is in the Kazakh capital to attend the 5th World Nomad Games, a unique event celebrating ethnic sports.

The presentation of the games, held at the Qazaqstan athletics complex in Astana, saw Roberts actively participating and expressing his enthusiasm for the event. Known for his nominations for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe, Roberts' presence added a touch of Hollywood glamour to the traditional sports festival.

From September 8 to 13, Astana will host the international sports competitions, attracting more than 2,000 participants from 89 countries. The World Nomad Games will feature 21 sports, with 97 sets of medals to be awarded. The event highlights ethnic sports, celebrating the traditions and skills passed down through generations.

The World Nomad Games, first held in 2014, have grown in popularity and scale, drawing athletes and spectators from around the globe. The games include sports such as kokpar (a traditional horse game), wrestling, archery, and other disciplines reflecting the nomadic lifestyle.

Kazakhstan's Minister of Culture and Sports, Aktoty Raimkulova, emphasized the significance of the event. "The World Nomad Games are a celebration of our shared heritage and a platform for fostering international friendship and understanding," she said. "We are honored to have Eric Roberts with us, bringing global attention to these ancient traditions."

As the anticipation builds, Astana is preparing to welcome participants and spectators for what promises to be an exciting and culturally rich sporting event. Azerbaijan regularly participates in the World Nomad Games, winning prestigious awards at competitions. The last time Azerbaijan participated in the IV World Nomad Games, held in the Iznik region of the Turkish province of Bursa.
