Tapdig Farhadoglu is operated on
Famous journalist, correspondent of Turan news agency and radio "Voice of America", Tapdig Farhadoglu, has been operated on today at a clinic in Baku. Urgent surgical intervention became necessary due to the sharp pain in his back and legs, which appeared after injury caused to the journalist during a protest action of students at Baku State University (BSU) on February 20.
Then the head of security service of BSU, Mahir Hojatov, caused several kicks and beat with hands on the back and the head of the journalist , who was filming the students’ action.
After that , the journalist went to the police and passed a medical examination. Doctors recorded injuries and prescribed treatment. However, it became impossible to remove the pain by medication and procedures, and lately his health deteriorated. Imaging showed offset disc spine, what could be a consequence of the injury. The surgery was made on April 10 in Baku Medical Plaza.
According to a surgeon Zaur Aslanov, the journalist underwent surgery for a hernia on the intervertebral disc. The doctor explained that pain could be caused by many reasons. At the same time, one of the factors of acute illness could be the injuries got during the action of protest at BSU.
Aslanov said that the operation was successful , and already tomorrow the journalist will be able to rise and will be discharged from the hospital. Complete rehabilitation at home requires two or three weeks. -02В-
