Workers led by the Executive Power of the Yasamal district of Baku started the complete destruction of the architectural building of the early 20th century at 45 Mirza Fatali Street, which is located in the historical part of Baku, called Soviet.
The owner of an apartment in the house Faig Aliyev has barricaded himself in his room and refuses to come out. He told Turan the excavator had already struck the ceiling of the first floor and the family might remain under the ruins.
Aliyev sued the government for failing to provide him compensation or an equivalent apartment and on June 30 the next hearing will be held in the Second Administrative Economic Court.
The authorities systematically demolish the residential area called Soviet, without providing the plan to the public and without a clear resolution of all issues related to the demolition, compensation and construction.
The work is carried out with gross violations of the rights of the citizens and the inviolability of private property and is accompanied with corruption practices. -0-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
