Doctor Who Amputated Healthy Leg Persecuted Legally
A criminal case has been filed against the surgeon who amputated the wrong leg of his patient. As stated by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the surgeon Valeh Kerimov operated Tarlan Mammadova, born in 1929, who was suffering from diabetes, in the Angiology Center of the Health Ministry on June 24. Instead of amputating her left leg, he cut off the woman’s right leg and thereby inflicted grave damage to her health.
The information received on the fact was investigated by the Yasamal district prosecutor's office. A criminal case was filed under Article 131.2 (causing grievous bodily injury by negligence) of the Criminal Code. The appropriate expertise has been assigned. At the same time the Ministry of Health carries out checks with the involvement of experts. The investigative activities are continuing. -16D-
