The accused in the fighting as part of the IG, sentenced to 15 years
Trial in the case of Mahir Musayev, who is accused of involvement in the war in Syria. Completed on Friday in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison. Musayev did not deny that he went to Syria. He went there after watching what is happening on the Internet. After staying for some time in Syria, he returned and went back to Syria with his wife.
His wife Turkan Mammadova told the court that her husband hid at first that he was in Syria and the family believed that he was in Turkey. She said that when her husband took her he saidthat they were going to Turkey. Only hen they were in Syria she realized that they were not in Turkey.
In Syria, they have a conflict on religious grounds with local officials, and Musayev escaped from there with his wife. When they returned to Azerbaijan, Musayev was arrested.
In Syria Musayev spoke with other Azerbaijanis named Zarbali and Parvin.
The first one had previously been sentenced to 10 years in prison. -03D06-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
