Fuad Agayev: Ilgar Mammadov is not given books
On February 3 the lawyer Fuad Agayev met with Ilgar Mammadov, the imprisoned leader of the movement "REAL". Agayev told Turan that he discussed with Mammadov question about the investigation of his second complaint in the European Court of Human Rights.
Mammadov was sentenced to 7 years in prison in connection with the unrest in the city of Ismayilli in January 2013. The court found him guilty of "organizing mass disorder" and "resisting arrest with violence."
However, the ECHR found the arrest of Mammadov illegal, and called for his release. Council of Europe Committee of Ministers has repeatedly demanded the implementation of this decision. The second complaint with the ECHR against the sentence was sent in 2015.
"Until January 12 the government of Azerbaijan was to send replies to the ECHR demands. But for some reason we did not get a copy of this response. Last time, in this regard, there was a "strange delay", said the lawyer. According to him, the Nobel Prize winner , the Belarus writer Svetlana Aleksievich sent Mammadov her book aa a gift.
However, after Mammadov wrote a letter of thanks to Aleksievich, the books brought for him , and even things necessary for the protection of investigative materials are not passed him.
"I myself have repeatedly brought him books, magazines and other materials, including today, but once again they were returned. Thereby the rights of Ilgar Mamedov on Articles 6 (right to liberty and security), 10 (freedom of expression), etc. are violated, " sid the lawyer.-03B06-
