The Court of Appeal left the opposition leader arrested
Baku Court of Appeal today dismissed the complaint of the activists of the Popular Front Party Fuad Ahmadli on the decision on his arrest until January 12, 2017. According to the lawyer Asabali Mustafayev, an appeal was filed on the decision of the Nasimi District Court of 11 November on the extension of the arrest of Ahmadli. Ahmadli was arrested in August this year in the framework of criminal proceedings allegedly against supporters of the Turkish preacher Fetullah Gülen, who is accused by Ankara of the organization of military coup in July 2016.
After the failure of the coup, the law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan have started hunting political opponents, calling it a struggle against "collaborators" of Gulen.-06D-
