On February 6 at about 15:00 between Sangachal and Gobustan (60-70 km south-west of the capital) erupted volcano. According to eyewitnesses, the eruption occurred twice, and over the volcano there a flame rose 20-25 meters high.
The press service of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan confirmed the information about the eruption. According to the ministry, there were no injuries.
In the area there are dozens of mud volcanoes, which erupt from time to time with a mixture of mud and natural gas. In these cases there is inflammation and a violent explosion. The last time a similar eruption took place in 2002 at about the same place. -06D--
