The founder of the site is detained and charged with treason
Baku / 13.06.19 / Turan: Polad Israil oglu Aslanov, founder and editor of the xeberman.com and press-az.com information sites, was detained on suspicion of treason. This is stated in the message of the State Security Service (GSS) on June 13.
The message reads that Aslanov held secret meetings with foreign special services outside the country and was involved in cooperation on the terms of material payment.
On the instructions of the foreign special services, Aslanov passed on the information he collected, damaging state security and defense capability of Azerbaijan.
According to the State Security Service, he agreed to publish in the press and social networks materials discrediting the Azerbaijani state to its law enforcement agencies. Aslanov also introduced journalists outside of Azerbaijan for their future cooperation with foreign intelligence services.
The names of the journalists and the country for which he worked are not revealed because of the secrecy of the investigation. During the investigation, Aslanov testified about the criminal actions committed by him. He is prosecuted under the Article 274 (state change) of the Criminal Code.
